shmu awarded Youth Music Initiative funding

shmu has been awarded funding from the Scottish Government's Youth Music Initiative, which is administered by Creative Scotland, for 'Transform', a project which will see the continuation of the use of music as a medium in the transformative journeys of young people moving through our organisation.

shmu’s One Day Challenge

Are you up for making a film, broadcasting a live radio programme, or making a song from scratch in just one day? 

If you live in Tillydrone, Woodside, Torry, Middlefield, Seaton, Northfield or Cummings Park, come and join us at shmu HQ in Woodside, Aberdeen during the summer holidays for shmu's One Day Challenge.  Our challenge sessions will give you a taster of what goes into creating your own film, radio programme or track and how much fun it can be.

An exciting digital broadcasting future for the city

We are applying for a small-scale Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) licence through Ofcom to run an initiative that will provide an exciting opportunity for the future of radio in the city.

The new Small Scale DAB platform will carry up to twenty different stations in digital quality and will provide an affordable long-term digital future for many existing broadcasters, as well as offering a platform to support local broadcasters to flourish.

Youth Media vs Chemistry!

Our Youth Media Team were recently visited by Dr Alan McCue from the University of Aberdeen in partnership with the Curiosity Fund during British Science Week! The group got to watch multiple chemistry demonstrations, film them and speak about it on their radio show.
